Professionalism is defined as the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize a professional.  Traits of a professional include work ethic, respect, knowledge, experience and honesty.

Many of us seek out professionals for assistance when we come across important issues that require education, experience and knowledge specific to that field.  This includes many different fields such as doctors, accountants, lawyers and real estate brokers.

The expectation that we have when entering into a relationship with a professional is not limited to simply completing the work.  We expect a certain level of civility, honesty, consistent communication, timeframe and a budget.

There is no reason that divorce lawyers should not adhere to these standards as well with their clients.  The process of divorce certainly meets the definition that many people have for an issue that raises to the level of hiring a professional.

Divorce attorneys must recognize the expectation of the client goes well beyond filing for divorce and obtaining a final judgment of dissolution of marriage.  The client expects access to the lawyer, a road map of what to expect and what steps are necessary to achieve a divorce, regular updates from the lawyer as to where the case stands, in person meetings to prepare for settlement conferences, honest legal opinions as to client goals and the likelihood of success and an estimated timeline and budget.

Professionalism and client care should be top of mind for divorce attorneys because it is expected by their clients.

Our law firm has been located in downtown Lake Worth for more than 40 years representing clients in a professional and ethical manner.  If you or a friend has questions about divorce, do not hesitate to call us to schedule an initial divorce consultation.
